Marcelino makes seven changes compared to the 11 that played at Camp Nou

Marcelino made seven changes from the starting lineup that he put out last Thursday at Camp Nou, with only Jose Gaya, Dani Parejo, Gabriel Paulista and Ruben Vezo retaining their places. The latter, who featured as a central defender versus FC Barcelona, played as a right back, with Nemanja Maksimovic offering more defensive cover on the right flank of the midfield four.

On the left flank, Marcelino opted for Toni Lato and Jose Gaya, but unlike their recent LaLiga game versus Real Madrid, it was the former who featured wide in midfield and the latter who remained as a left back.

Valencia CF were very solid defensively in the first half, despite the great options that Los Colchoneros had in attack, and only allowed one shot on target that Neto dealt with brilliantly. After the break, Marcelino’s men conceded a goal due to a fantastic effort from Angel Correa from range, with Neto unable to add to his tally of three saves.
