Angulo: “I hope that Valencia CF have a magical game and knock FC Barcelona out”

The current VCF youth coach knows that the Mestalla crowd will be important in the semi finals

Miguel Angel Angulo is one of the most decorated players in the history of Valencia CF, having won two league titles, two Copa del Reys, a Spanish Super Cup, a UEFA Cup and a European Super Cup. He featured on VCFradio’s ‘Som Passio’ show on Tuesday evening.

“I feel more than just a Valencia CF great, a person who is proud of being involved in a very good and successful period for the club. I was there at its peak, I have been an important player, I have won a lot of silverware. I have had a lot of luck in my career, truthfully. I don’t remember a bad year at Valencia CF. I arrived at the age of 17, now I’m 40, so I’ve spent 23 years here. I already feel like another Valencia fan, my wife is here, my three children are here and the city took to me from the first day.”

“Valencia CF have to have a very complete game. For example, Messi and Suarez can’t have the chance to disrupt them. It is a game where you have to do everything perfectly, you have to make it uncomfortable. The atmosphere at Mestalla will influence things. There are a lot of details that can help Valencia CF. The visitors come with a result in their favour. Everything else doesn’t matter and they will come and give us a lot of respect. I hope that Valencia CF have a magical game as we did in the past.”

During his many seasons at Valencia CF, the Asturian knows what it means to defeat FC Barcelona at Mestalla both in the cup and in other competitions: “I remember a tie against FC Barcelona in the first Champions League, when we won 4-1 at Mestalla. That semi final was one of the best memories of my career, I made two goals and the team had a big game.”

“The public are very demanding, it is normal that they will be annoyed if things don’t go as they had hoped. I hope that Thursday will show the best of the fans. When there are big games, the fans will make noise, they will show their great support of Valencia and get carried away by the game and with their emotions. If the team runs, fights and shows a good attitude, they will support them until the last moment.”
