Ready for a comeback. Objective: the cup final

No-one wants to miss a magical night like this one at Mestalla, the players, Marcelino and the fans believe… Together we’ll fight for our ticket to the final!

The big day has arrived, the night that every Valencia fan has circled in red. Mestalla is ready to back the team, to support them in difficult moments, to feel strong emotions… to experience a magical night. Valencia CF is just one step from the cup final, from 9.30pm CET the last battle begins in the arena, with the aim to overcome the 1-0 deficit that FC Barcelona gained in the first leg. Tonight, the story will be different. Valencia CF are going for the comeback.

No fan will want to miss a game like that, and neither do Guedes or Piqué, although they aren’t at one hundred per cent physically, they’re aware that they are one small step from fighting for a trophy, and that demands extra effort. Marcelino and his boys have prepared for this final with attention to every detail, they are aware of the need to keep a cleansheet because a Barcelona goal would mean they would need three to go through. The team will play smart. They have to score, yes, but without going crazy and losing control of the game.

A few months ago, FC Barcelona were close to losing their unbeaten LaLiga record at Mestalla. With ten minutes to do, the scoreboard showed a 1-0 that would be enough today to level the tie. In the game at Camp Nou, Barça were only able to win by the narrowest of margins, suffering on the way. Valencia CF have overcome a 1-0 deficit in ten of the last twelve times they played a second leg at Mestalla. So why not? Working as a team, fighting as a unit, until the final whistle… this Valencia CF dares us to dream.

Marcelino can’t count on Andreas or Murillo, who are injured, whilst Nacho Vidal and Ferran Torres will be supporting the team from the stands. As for Barcelona, Ernesto Valverde can’t include the injured Vermaelen and Dembélé, and hasn’tn called up Denis Suárez and Digné. The FC Barcelona coach comes to our stadium aiming to score, and he knows first hand the role Mestalla can play and he knows they’ll suffer.

Mestalla will be totally focused on the comeback. The fans like this team, they want goals, they feel connected to this Valencia CF and they want to see the comeback in a venue like Mestalla. The team believes, Marcelino and his staff do, so do the players… Together we’re stronger! It’s time for the reAMUNTada!
