Mateu Alemany: “We have a crucial game on Sunday for our main target, of finishing as high up LaLiga as possible”

Valencia CF, according to the Director General, are moving on from the cup and emphasising the importance of getting back to winning ways against Levante with Mestalla’s support

Turning the page on the Copa del Rey, where Valencia CF competed well against one of the best teams in the world, the team has already moved on to focus on LaLiga, where their great objective is getting back into the Champions League. Mateu Alemany is convinced that Valencia CF will get back to their best, starting with the game this Sunday at Mestalla against Levante UD.

“I’m convinced that we’ll get back to our best. Since December there have been various circumstances, apart from the fixture list, fundamentally the injuries, and strange games in which we haven’t got what we deserved. Everything will get back to normal, despite the recent defeats that’s what it feels like, and the team will get back to where they should be. Now we have to rest and prepare for Sunday’s game” the Director General told GOL TV.

All the focus now is on LaLiga, where Marcelino’s team are third in the table, a privileged position which would take Valencia CF into next season’s Champions League.

“When we were on a run of eight consecutive wins, we didn’t think we’d gone as far as we could, either. Each defeat is different and in different circumstances. It’s obvious that January was going to be tough, with a challenging calendar and a lot of injuries. Now we’ll forget about all this, we got to the semi-finals, so I think we did well in the Cup, we got drawn against Barça, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and now we have a challenge in LaLiga, which is our priority and on Sunday we have a really important game, it’s crucial, with little time to recover. We have to finish as high up the LaLiga table as possible and at the end of the season we’ll assess things” said Mateu Alemany.
