Valencia CF need the win to consolidate their place in the higher reaches of LaLiga

There are no doubts in the dressing room despite the six-game winless run, but they are conscious of the importance of a derby win against Levante UD

The wins reflect the work done on the field of play. The manner of getting them is open to discussion, but picking up wins changes the way things look. Valencia CF need to get back to winning ways on Sunday evening against UD Levante at 20:45 CET.

Valencia CF are sitting in the Champions League places and they are looking to keep hold of it with a tight grip. Following the congested run of fixtures against strong sides, the players are tired but they know they need to make one last push before having a little bit of respite.

A win will open the gap between Valencia CF and the fifth-placed side to six points, as well as stopping the rot. It is time to get back to winning ways in front of the home crowd which will be right behind the team to get a win in the local derby. Marcelino will not have Murillo, Garay, Andreas and Rodrigo through injury but Coquelin made it to the match day squad and will get his first taste of the Valencia derby after having enjoyed London derbies in the Premier League.

Levante UD are the fourth LaLiga side with fewest losses on the road (3) and the one with the most draws to their name (6). Two of their key men are back, in Chema and Jose Campaña. The history books between these two sides swings the local derby in VCF’s favour, as they are yet to lose one on home turf.

There will also be a clash on the bench between two friends, as Marcelino and López Muñiz have crossed paths on four occasions in the past. All of them have ended in a draw, but this Sunday Valencia CF are all about getting back to winning ways at home.
