Vietto and Coquelin are two of LaLiga’s most-used January purchases

Valencia CF have asked their signings from the most recent transfer window to have an immediate impact out on the pitch

Valencia CF did their business in January with the intention of raising the level of quality in the squad, regardless of the fact that Marcelino’s men had already taken some good results and found themselves in third place in the league table. Luciano Vietto signed on January 4th, with Francis Coquelin arriving on the 11th, and both acquisitions have had an immediate impact.

Of the 49 players that were brought in by LaLiga clubs since January 2nd, Vietto is the player with the third-most minutes (514) across all competitions, and he has scored four goals in that time. Only Gabriel Penalba and Alejandro Galvez of Las Palmas have managed more minutes. Marcelino has used Vietto in nine of the 11 games that he has been available for. Against Las Palmas he bagged a hat trick, before netting an important goal in the derby versus Levante UD.

Francis Coquelin is another recent signing who has played a big role in LaLiga. Despite changing league and needing to get used to working under Marcelino, the Frenchman has immediately performed to a high level. Both the coaching staff and Mestalla have been suitably impressed, and Coquelin is already feeling good about himself. With every game that passes, he will get to know his teammates better, and he too is a January signing that has clocked up an impressive amount of minutes.
