The Italian striker is no stranger to hitting the back of the net against Los Nervionenses
Goals breed confidence and that will be the hope of Simone Zaza, who struck the back of the net against Real Betis in Valencia CF’s last LaLiga outing. His effort broke a lengthy run without a goal in the Spanish top flight, but this weekend brings with it an opponent against which the Italy international has had some fond memories.
Zaza already has 11 goals to his name this campaign and scored versus Sevilla FC in the first round of matches in LaLiga this season. While playing for Juventus, the Italian also managed to do the same, with a goal in the Champions League back in 2015 getting him off the mark in the competition. Having played against the Andalusian side on three occasions, Zaza has won twice and drawn once. Saturday is another chance to improve on such a good record.
Although goals are important for any striker, Marcelino emphasised the other jobs that his forward do on the field during his pre-match press conference. “We are happy with all of them, we believed that they would put in good showings for us and they have scored 32 goals between three of them in LaLiga. Between them, we have put together an advantageous situation where they can all perform well and help the team,” the Asturian boss explained. Santi Mina will be out with an injury problem at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but Zaza can still step up to plate against an opponent he knows well.
