Valencia CF are winless away at Sevilla FC since 2004 but they are determined to come away with a victory
Valencia CF will be back in action on the road against Sevilla FC on Saturday (16:15CET) at the Ramon Sánchez Pizjuán, on matchday 28 of LaLiga Santander. Valencia CF have not won away at Sevilla FC since 2004 (0-2) during our memorable double-winning campaign. Vicente and Baraja were on the scoresheet on that magical night that saw Valencia CF clinch the LaLiga title.
Saturday’s game will have very little bearing on the reverse fixture that saw Marcelino’s side pick up a comprehensive 4-0 win at Mestalla on matchday 9. Valencia CF will face a much-improved and better organised Sevilla FC under Montella, with the Italian having stuck with his 4-2-3-1 formation and a settled starting line-up.
Marcelino will not have Santi Mina through injury, with Maksimovic and Nacho Vidal not part of the travelling squad. José Gayà will be a last-minute doubt for Saturday’s game after picking up a muscle problem in training midweek.
Montella will not have Jesús Navas or Corchia available for selection. Marcelino’s side will be looking to come away with all three points to stay in the upper echelons of LaLiga and extend the gap between themselves and the chasing pack.
