The Brazil-born striker has already netted 15 goals this campaign in all competitions and is closing in on his best ever season
Courtesy of two lovely passes from Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo Moreno was able to slot home his first LaLiga brace on Saturday afternoon versus Sevilla FC. The second of which proved to be his 12th goal of the campaign in the Spanish top flight, with his three goals in the Copa del Rey leaving him very close to bettering his best-ever campaign since turning professional.
Since signing for Valencia CF many moons ago, Rodrigo has had a long wait to be able to say that he has tucked home two goals on one league match day. His only other brace for the club came in the Copa del Rey versus CD Leganes, back in the 2016/17 season.
After Valencia CF’s 2-0 win over Sevilla FC, the Spain international was very pleased: “it was more than three points, they are our direct rival for qualifying for the Champions League. These are three valuable points that don’t confirm anything, but they are a very important step towards our objective. We’ve got to this point working brilliantly throughout the entire season.”
Happy to have helped the team, Rodrigo went on: “It was a vital game for our aspirations, we have a big advantage over fifth place but we can’t sit back. The team have got the positive spirit back that we’d had earlier in the season,” he said.
