The atmosphere will play a key part when RCD Espanyol come to visit on Sunday
During Sunday night’s LaLiga clash at Mestalla, the home crowd will have a big part to play once again as Valencia CF look to qualify for the Champions League once again. There is a clear bond between the fans and the team, with the extra energy that they transmit to the players enough to help them through tough moments.
A top-four finish is within touching distance, but there is still a lot to do before the squad can consider itself to have a place among Europe’s elite. As such, plenty of support will be vital. The club is growing on every level and the fantastic atmosphere at Mestalla during the league season is something that should be transferred to Champions League evenings next campaign.
Marcelino explained in his press conference that maintaining the good atmosphere and mood is key to securing fourth place, and against RCD Espanyol the fans will be as key as the players as everyone pushes in the same direction for a positive result. More than 38,000 fans will be watching at Mestalla and with the good relationship between what goes on in the stands and what happens on the pitch, Sunday can be another big step towards the Champions League.
