Valencia CF lived up to their core values once again at Camp Nou

The team were brave, worked for each other, competed and gave everything until the final whistle against unbeaten league leaders FC Barcelona

Valencia CF continue to scale the ladder and show that they have turned things around, and as Marcelino said after Saturday’s game at Camp Nou, “we are close” to FC Barcelona, Atlético and Real Madrid. The general conclusion to draw from that narrow defeat was that the team battled hard in their toughest game of the season, showing that whether they win or lose they are prepared to give it all.

Marcelino’s men were brave in their approach and didn’t give up until the very end, with Valencia CF also capable of creating plenty of opportunities. The difference was, however, that FC Barcelona had more cutting edge. Ambitiously, the visitors went to pick up a positive result, but some great goalkeeping from Ter Stegen prevented them from snatching a win at Camp Nou, something that hasn’t been done since August.

Marcelino’s side head into an important week with two games to play. Winning both would lead the club back to the Champions League, and once that is achieved, plans can be made for next season with the ambition to keep growing. The project continues to look strong, with a return to Europe being the icing on the cake after a terrific campaign.
