Rodrigo a central figure for Spain with the Russia World Cup in sight

Valencia CF forward Rodrigo Moreno has picked up 19 to his name, he is having his best season for club and country. Rodrigo is dreaming of booking his place in the final call-up list ahead of the Russia World Cup.

The Spanish national squad head coach, Julen Lopetegui will release the final Spain call-up on the 18th of May.  Rodrigo was the main interviewee on the programme FIFA FOOTBALL broadcast on Eurosport 2.

“To be honest I wasn’t expecting it, we started the season playing very well but I’ve gone a long time without being called up. I’ve never given up on my dream, I haven’t stopped wanting to achieve that objective of getting in the national team but I didn’t expect it to happen at that point.

This is being my best spell at Valencia CF,  I feel valued within the team, I’m back in the national team and no I’ve got a strong chance of going to the World Cup.

I think that being in the World Cup amongst the best is the ultimate dream and the biggest objective that every player has especially with a team as big as Spain who obviously have the chance of doing something significant so hopefully I’ll be able to do it that what I work for every single day and hopefully it will happen.

Rodrigo is being instrumental in Marcelino’s side and the will take on Villarreal in the regional derby on Saturday against Villareal where they’ll be looking to seal Champions League qualification for next season.
