The head-to-head battles to watch out for in Villarreal CF - Valencia CF

Jaume Costa vs Gayà

Two left backs who were made in Paterna will cross paths on Saturday evening. Gayà is having his best season yet in this Valencia CF side, with three assists coming from his 89 crosses into the penalty area. Jaume Costa, on the other hand, has registered none from 62 crosses. In defence, the VCF full back has recovered possession on 165 occasions (compared to Jaume’s 118) and has intercepted 51 passes in comparison to the Villarreal defender’s 41.

Bacca vs Rodrigo

Both of these strikers have been offering plenty of cutting edge this season. Rodrigo has netted 16 goals in LaLiga, compared to Bacca’s 15. The Valencia CF forward has had 64 shots, compared to the Colombian’s 51, with the Villarreal CF man managing to contribute five assists to Rodrigo’s four. The latter is more involved in build up play, racking up 839 passes compared to Bacca’s 463, with Rodrigo also winning the ball back on 82 occasions in comparison to his opponent’s 52.

Rodri vs Parejo

Both of these players are key to the midfield operations of their respective teams, with everything passing through them. Parejo has made 2,229 passes in LaLiga, with Rodri making 2,165 himself. The Villarreal CF midfielder has been involved in 416 individual duels with opponents, compared to 385 for the Valencia CF captain. Parejo has chipped in with seven goals and seven assists while getting forward, with Rodri managing just a solitary goal and assist. The young Spaniard has, however, recovered possession on three more occasions than Parejo (288 to 285).
