More than 1,000 away fans celebrated qualification for the Champions League at Estadio de la Cerámica

Nobody wanted to miss this one, as it wasn’t just an ordinary day at the office for Valencia CF. With the sun rising on a day which saw the club in with a chance of securing Champions League football, 1,100 travelling fans made the trip to Estadio de la Cerámica. After 36 match days of ups and downs, they had the chance to cheer their team on in the regional derby knowing that fourth place was already secure.

Although the game ended in defeat, courtesy of a late strike from Mario Gaspar, it wasn’t enough to overwhelm the obvious high spirits. The fans have stuck by the team all season, with the two showing a strong bond, and it was no different on Saturday evening. Now, it is the time to celebrate returning to the Champions League.

The players returned to the field to thank the fans after the final whistle, with the squad all linking arms to celebrate together in front of the away support.

Parejo will be out at Montilivi

Valencia CF captain Dani Parejo will be sidelined due to suspension for LaLiga’s penultimate match day, which will see Marcelino’s side face Girona FC at Montilivi on Saturday 12th May (18:30CET). After a foul on Dani Raba, Parejo hit a milestone of yellow cards and will have to serve a one-game ban as a result.
