With 67 points from 36 league games, Valencia CF go into the game against Girona wanting to win
After the experience in Saudi Arabia, the Valencia CF squad return to training on Friday with one objective: improve on what is already the sixth best season in the history of the club, with 67 points after 36 LaLiga games. With two matches to go, the team want to seal a superb campaign, showing ambition and not settling for what they’ve achieved so far.
Despite the fact that they confirmed their Champions League return last time out, Marcelino has instilled a winning mentality in the team, and they want to keep growing and keep winning. This Saturday against Girona FC, one of the revelations of the season, the team will fight for three points which would take them over the 70 point mark, and would give them the chance to go into the last LaLiga game being able to equal the fourth best tally in the history of the club in a 38 game season.
In its almost one hundred years of history, with the exception of the 95/96 season when the league was played over 42 games, the best points totals were in the 2014/15 and 2003/04 seasons when they reached 77 points, followed by the first league title won by Rafa Benítez in 2001/02, when they reached 75.
