He arrived as a January reinforcement but went on to score five goals and provide one assist
When Luciano Vietto arrived at the club during the winter transfer window, Valencia CF saw further competition added into their forward line. It wasn’t simple for the Argentine striker to adapt to the group, given that he came into the frame at a time where the team was having to play two games per week, but Vietto went on to finish the campaign with five goals and an assist.
Starting in every Copa del Rey fixture that he was available for, Vietto starred with a hat trick against UD Las Palmas, and the Argentine would go on to score two important goals in LaLiga during a 3-1 win over Levante UD and a 0-1 victory against Girona FC.
With a goal scored every 180 minutes, Vietto offered something different to his teammates. As Marcelino said about beating Real Betis at Mestalla (2-0): “from our strikers, we don’t only value goalscoring, but also other contributions, both offensive and defensive.” In the last LaLiga game against RC Deportivo, Vietto also showed his quality with a lovely back heel to set up Guedes.
