Another reason to celebrate at Valencia CF

Captain Dani Parejo became a father for the second time on Wednesday

There’s a Spanish expression that goes like this: “children are born with a loaf of bread under their arm”. Well, at Valencia CF, it’s more than a loaf of bread, it’s the Champions League. We’ve seen a “baby boom” this season with as many as five players celebrating on and off the pitch, qualifying for the Champions League while also becoming fathers.

The most recent arrivals have been for Martín Montoya and Dani Parejo, with the season over. It’s not the first time for either of them – the Valencia CF captain has had his second child. “It’s the best present ever” said an emotional Parejo.

Earlier this season Ezequiel Garay, Neto and Jeison Murillo have also enjoyed the unforgettable experience of becoming a father. “I can’t even remember what it was like not being a father” says Neto, who had a daughter in January, “It’s been an intense few months”, while Murillo says “I think being a father is the best. You have more responsibility, and it helps you grow”. The Colombian became a father a few weeks after arriving in Valencia.

The Valencia family keeps growing, as we saw in the celebrations on the pitch at Mestalla at the end of the season. And next season Parejo, Montoya, Neto, Murillo and Garay will have one extra reason to enjoy the return to the Champions League.
