The players that helped us return to the Champions League: Neto

The Brazilian goalkeeper, a lifesaver between the posts, was the LaLiga keeper with second-most saves

He arrived from Juventus wanting to be important, and that’s what happened. Norberto ‘Neto’ Murara has found a place where he can write his own story at Valencia CF, and the club have found a serious, professional, reliable goalkeeper who, together with Jaume, has drastically reduced the number of goals conceded.

Without making a lot of fuss, he has become the number two goalkeeper in LaLiga in terms of saves, making 112 in 33 games played. Some of them were spectacular, such us those against Eibar, Celta or Real Sociedad at Mestalla, or his role at the Bernabeu, as well as the penalties saved against Real Betis and Athletic Club.

“Valencia is a special, big club, with a lot of tradition and a really passionate fanbase” he said on landing in Valencia. And in a short time, he saw the proof. “I came to Valencia to play in the Champions League. I feel I’ve found my place here” admitted the Brazilian stopper a few months later.

It was a season he’ll never forget - after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with Valencia CF, being called up by Brazil, and above all the birth of his first daughter.
