The day Uroš Račić stepped onto the Mestalla pitch at 12 years of age

In April 2010 he took part in the VCF Cup at VCF's Paterna Training Ground in the Altina Zemun shirt

The day that Račić arrived in Valencia he made a trip to the past, to be specific to early April 2010 when he was just 12 years old, but by then both he and his brother were always kicking a football.

After getting into the FC Bambi and ŠF Knjaz academies from their hometown Kraljevo, they both moved to the FK Altina Zemun academy 200 km away from home.  Račić took part in the Valencia CF Cup in a Atilia Zemun shirt as an U12 at the VCF Paterna Training Ground in 2010.

“I remember that we played the final against a Greek side” he says, and his memory serves him well because he played against Bebides but that visit to the city left a mark on him. He took the Mestalla tour with his teammates as an activity which was part of the Valencia CF Cup.

"Getting into Mestalla was an amazing experience the thing I remember the most were the dressing rooms”. That day he set a target for himself playing again at the same ground he had visited.

Then he went to the VCF store “to buy some souvenirs for my family” but to round it all off he took a photo with his fellow countryman Nikola Zigic before heading back home.

Eight years later he is a Valencia CF player after spells at Sloga Kraljevo, Sloboda Čačak, OFK Belgrade and FK Red Star Belgrade. Now he will get changed in the same dressing room after becoming a new VCF player until the 30th of June 2022.
