Great home draw against Atlético de Madrid (1-1)

Valencia CF and Atlético de Madrid started their respective LaLiga campaigns playing Monday Night Football 20:00 h kick-off time in Mestalla on Matchday 1 of LaLiga.

Both teams started the game looking to score. Wass had the first kick of the game but his shot went over the bar. Gabriel Paulista and Rodrigo Moreno combined well but Rodrigo shot went wide over the 15-minute mark.  Valencia kept on trying and exchanging shots looking to score.

Sadly, Ángel Correa put Atético de Madrid in front with a shot from inside the box in the 25th minute of the first half. Rodrigo responded with a long-range shot just three minutes later after Atlético de Madrid goal.

Valencia CF kept on trying and trying but the first half ended 0-1 for the away team.

Valencia CF started the second half looking to make it 1-1 that honour went to Rodrigo with a powerful shot from inside the box on 56 minutes. Paulista came close to scoring over the hour mark as he hit the post.

Latest Valencia CF’s signing and former Atlético de Madrid player replaced Santi Mina in the 64th minutes and minutes later it was Michi Batshuayi’s turn to enter. Both teams kept on looking for a win with box to box football. Kevin Gameiro had the last kick of the game but the game finished 1-1 in what was an entertaining game at Mestalla.
