Match Report: Valencia CF vs Girona FC (0-1)

Valencia CF played versus Girona FC in Mestalla at 18:30 kick-off time (CET) on matchday 11 of LaLiga Santander. Valencia CF had a good start trying to get possession. Francis Coquelin had the first chance of the game but Bono sent it out of play.

Rodrigo Moreno scored during the corner kick but his goal came in an offside position.  A minute later, Gonçalo Guedes tried his luck but his shot went a bit too high. Santi Mina went for a first-time shot but Bono saved it.

Geoffrey Kondogbia made it 1-0 but the referee checked with the VAR and did not give it because the ball appeared to have gone out of play in the 33rd minute of the first half. Rodrigo Moreno had the clearest chance of the match with a great header but Bono miraculously saved it.

Valencia CF had a double chance with Guedes chance saved by Bono and then Santi Mina’s hitting the crossbar. The first half finished scoreless between Valencia CF and Girona FC in a dominant first half from Valencia CF.

Valencia CF had a similar start in the second half, the Galician player Santi Mina went down in the area but the referee said play on and a minute later, Pere Pons made it 0-1 to Girona FC in the 48th minute of the match.

Bono kept on saving the day for Girona FC with yet another save to Rodrigo’s shot and a similar save to Santi Mina’s attempt minutes later. Ferran Tores and Kevin Gameiro replaced Daniel Wass and Francis Coquelin in the 85th minute.  Bono saved the day again in the final kick of the match.

The match between Valencia CF and Girona FC finished 0-1. Valencia CF will play versus BSC Young Boys on Tuesday at 19:00 kick-off time (CET) in Mestalla on matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League.
