Daniel Wass gives VCF the win against Everton (2-3)

August, 04 2018 -

Valencia CF had a positive start to the game playing their typical possession football. Valencia CF got themselves in front through Rodrigo who scored from close range following a great cross from Ferran Torres that the Everton defence could not clear away.

Richarlison responded immediately to Rodrigo’s goal with a powerful shot that was pushed away by Neto. The home side grew so much so that they scored the 1-1 over the 15-minute mark.

Valencia CF got themselves back ahead when a good cross by Cristiano Piccini that was finished off by Rodrigo with a fine standing header. Sadly, Valencia CF’s advantage did not last long as Everton levelled things up from a corner kick when Keane headed it in 2-2.

Santi Mina finished off a fine combination following a great forward pass by Dani Parejo but his goal did not stand up as the Galician was narrowly caught offside.

The first half finished 2-2 between both teams.

The second half started with both teams looking to score. Daniel Was had the first chance of the second half.  A great shot following a great combination with Rodrigo Moreno under the one-hour mark.

Valencia CF’s coach Marcelino introduced a few changes looking to get a third goal with 20 minutes of ordinary time left. Daniel Wass capitalised on an Everton mistake with a great snapshot from outside the box to retake the lead for Valencia CF.

The game saw stoppages and very little action after Wass’ goal. The game finished 2-3 and Marcelino’s team got the win against the Toffees before the Trofeo Naranja on the 11th of August.
