A double by Santi Mina and another one from Soler give Valencia CF the first win at Mestalla
Valencia CF played versus BSC Young Boys on matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League Wednesday at Mestalla at 18:55 kick-off time and looking to get the first victory in the competition and at home.
Santi Mina had the first chance after a good combination with Rodrigo but the shot of the Galician. Minutes later, Rodrigo scored but his goal did not stand, Valencia CF kept on looking to score as early as possible.
Santi Mina made it 1-0 for Valencia CF in the 14th minute by passing the ball into an empty net with the easiest of finishes following a good combination between Rodrigo and Carlos Soler whose shot had hit the post.
However, Roger Assalé made it 1-1 for BSC Young Boys in the 36th minutes of the game. The 1-1 would only last for four minutes as Santi Mina made it 2-1 for Valencia CF touching in Carlos Soler’s ball in the 42nd minute of the game.
The first half finished 2-1 for Valencia CF
Valencia CF had a similar start at the restart. Horau had the first chance for BSC Boys. Carlos Soler made it 3-1 for Valencia CF finishing off a great Valencia CF counter planting the ball into the bottom left corner.
Santi Mina was replaced by Kevin Gameiro and minutes later, Ferran Torres replaced Goncalo Guedes. There were fouls aplenty by BSC Young Boys so much so, that they had Sékou Sanogo sent off after a nasty high boot on Francis Coquelin.
The match finished 3-1 and Valencia CF got the first Mestalla win and in the Champions League, which meant that Valencia CF would take the second place ahead of the match between Juventus and Manchester United at the Juventus Stadium.
Valencia CF will play versus Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday the 12th of November on matchday 12 of LaLiga Santander at 16:15 kick-off time.
