Valencia CF win the second leg of Copa del Rey in Mestalla versus CD Ebro (1-0)

After the 1-2 victory in Zaragoza and today’s goal by Batshuayi Valencia CF certifies the pass to the round of 16 in Copa del Rey

Valencia CF got the win versus CD Ebro in the return leg of the last 32 in the Copa del Rey at Mestalla obtaining the direct pass to the round of 16. After the 1-0 victory in Mestalla, the focus is now on the important game versus Sevilla FC.

Marcelino gave the opportunity to some of the younger players to play this match. Kang In and Uros Racic made the starting line up and Alex Blanco enjoyed the last 15’ of the match in the pitch as he came in replacing Kang IN. The match got underway and it was delayed for a few minutes before the first quarter of the game as Kang In received medical care in the pitch.

The first half ended scoreless with a few good chances from Valencia CF, the best came from Kondogbia who had a total of three close shots and and demanded tough defensive work from CD Ebro.

After the break the players came back to the pitch determined to score in front of Mestalla fans. Uros Racic was close to open the scoreboard with a shot from outside the box with his left that missed slightly to the left. Valencia CF’s goal came in the minute 59 after a great cross by Toni Lato. Michy Batshuayi was close to the goal range and his header to the bottom right corner put us ahead of the match.

Ferran had the last opportunity in his boots in the 89’ with a powerful shot but the goalie pulled a hand to save the second for Valencia CF.

The result in Zaragoza plus the 1-0 achieved in Mestalla gives Valencia CF the pass to the next Copa del Rey round. It’s now time to think about Sevilla FC on Saturday, a vital match that will require the lads to reach their full potential in order to beat a strong rival. The atmosphere expected is great and Mestalla will again play a key role in helping the team achieve a good result.
