This will be the third time that the two teams face each other in European competition: on the previous two occasions Valencia CF went through
In the draw made in Nyon on Monday, it was revealed that Valencia CF will face Glasgow Celtic in the UEFA Europa League Round of 32, which takes place on February 14th (Celtic Park) and February 21st (Mestalla) 2019.
Celtic, coached by Brendan Rodgers, came second in Group B of the Europa League with 9 points, behind FC Salzburg. Eliminated from the competition from that same group were RB Leipzig and Rosenborg BK.
This will be the third time that Valencia CF and Celtic cross paths in official competition. The last encounter was in the 2001/02 UEFA Cup: VCF won 1-0 at Mestalla through a Vicente Rodriguez goal, and although they lost the return match 1-0, the team led by Rafa Benitez went through from the penalty shootout.
We have to go back to the 1962/63 season for the first match between the two teams, in the first round of the Fairs Cup. Eventual winners of the competition, Valencia CF were victorious 4-2 in the first leg and drew 2-2 in the second leg, to earn a 6-4 aggregate result.
