The VCF striker lamented the condition of the pitch and a failure to convert chances against Alavés
Rodrigo Moreno commented on Valencia CF's defeat away to Alavés on the pitch at Mendizorroza, and lamented the condition of the ground -although he insisted that this was no excuse for the 2-1 loss.
"We had a lapse of attention on set pieces. We knew that Alavés are strong in this facet of the game and have scored various goals from the first and second ball. We made two mistakes, and from then on they didn't generate many chances, whilst we had two clear opportunities that we didn't put away. It's a pity, because we went ahead and couldn't take advantage."
"It is in no way an excuse; the pitch was bad for both teams. Half of the pitch was frozen and you couldn't play on it. When you lose, everything is bad, but the pitch was really unplayable today -although I'm not the one who decides that."
Chances in the second half
"We were the better side in the first half. They dominated the second period and felt more comfortable. We had some chances to pull back level, but we didn't take them. It's a pity."
Turning the situation around
"Despite the win against Huesca, we haven't been able to put a run of victories together. It's been a tough season so far, in which there have been games that we've deserved to win. We've conceded a lot of avoidable goals. We have to keep believing in ourselves and in the work of the coach and ourselves. We aren't where we want to be, but we want to turn things around."
