The goal against Alavés was his first from a free kick this season
Dani Parejo scored for the second consecutive game in the eventual losing effort against Deportivo Alavés, and reached the milestone of 50 goals in LaLiga.
The captain, renowned as a set piece specialist, found the net from a free kick for the first time since Matchday 11 of last season against Leganés.
The goal in the 13th minute at Mendizorroza was Parejo's ninth free kick strike in the top flight. All have come whilst playing for Valencia CF. The first was in 2014/15 against RCD Espanyol, followed by goals against Rayo Vallecano (2014/15), Athletic Club, Celta Vigo, Sevilla FC and Getafe FC (all in 2015/16), one against Real Madrid (2016/17) and the two most recent against Leganés and Alavés.
Parejo has scored four goals thus far in 2018/19, with penalties against Levante UD and Getafe CF, and the hit from open play against SD Huesca before the winter break.
