The VCF coach explained his mindset going into the game against Getafe.
On the eve of Valencia CF's game against Getafe in the Copa del Rey, Marcelino addressed the media in his pre-match press conference.
We won't go crazy, because we have to try to avoid conceding a goal -which would leave us needing to score three. 1-0 from the first leg is a good result for them, and the second leg will be a long game. It's very possible that it will be decided in the second half, so we have to be incisive in our search for goals from the opening minute. We have to do so with organisation and knowing that not conceding will leave the tie open.
Priorities and rotations
Our intention is to win and to go through. We will see how the players are after the big effort they put in against Villarreal CF. There will be some changes, but we will try to go through to the semi finals. That's the intention for the players, the coaching staff, the club and the fans. We want the fans to support us and to enjoy themselves, and hopefully after a lot of effort we will get into the semifinals.
Our intention, attitude and mindset is always based around winning. Recent results and the way we have achieved them has increased the players' confidence, and that creates a positive state of mind.
The intensity of the tie and Getafe's aggressiveness
It will be intense. I don't understand why stating facts is seen as a criticism. It's a tool that Getafe use to be competitive and they are a difficult side to beat. I would see it as a compliment.
Pepe Bordalás' opinion about his relationship with other coaches
I'm the coach of Valencia CF and out of respect I shouldn't respond to personal attacks. I've coached 300 games and I respect every fellow coach.
The final being held at the Benito Villamarín
We were stimulated by the fact that it could have been held at Mestalla, but the federation decided on Seville. Our intention is to reach the final in any case. That is a stimulus in itself, which would only have been doubled had Mestalla been chosen as the venue.
