The Frenchman, who turns 26 today, appreciates the support of Valencia CF fans
Geoffrey Kondogbia played 90 minutes for the first time since December 12th (against Manchester United), including wearing the captain's armband for the second half against Celtic.
He spoke to VCF MEDIA after the brilliant 0-2 win at Celtic Park in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 32.
Captaining the side
"I am very proud to wear the captain's armband of this great club, an historic club, and I am very happy about that. I hope I can enjoy many more years here."
We are very happy, because we knew it was a very difficult game. Playing at Celtic Park is not easy, but we did our job. Now we turn our focus on LaLiga, where we'll keep trying to win and wait for the second leg against Celtic. The team have worked hard these last few months and we are playing better. We must use this moment to continue working and improve even more.
Playing 90 minutes
I'm gradually getting back on the pace. Now I have to work every day in order to be in top form up until the end of the season.
We've got a very important game coming up next. We have to get as many points as possible, so we'll keep working hard to win as many games as we can. Valencia CF aren't a small club. It's a very demanding place to be. I want to thank the fans, because they have never given up on us. They've always been behind us. I think that it's a good thing for us, and we have to carry on like this with their support.
I have received many congratulatory messages for my birthday and I want to thank the fans for their affection.
